FIretruck tears

Up to this point, I have not been feeling well throughout my pregnancy. I feel sick everyday and the emotions are not helping. So earlier this week, I had an incident at lab. I was talking to my BFF on the phone and went to turn on the film developer. Since it had been turned off all weekend, the chemicals had a strong rotten egg smell that put me over the edge. I got off the phone and ran to the bathroom. As soon as I began to open the bathroom door, the fire alarm went off. So I ran downstairs, grabbed my coat, and followed everyone out of the building. The cool fresh air instantly made me feel better....that is until the fire truck arrived. I have always been an emotional person, but since the pregnancy hormones kicked in, I cry everytime I see a fire truck or an ambulance with it's lights on. So as soon as the fire truck pulled in, I immediately began to cry. Now I haven't told anyone I work with that I'm pregnant, so I had to sneak away and do my best to make sure no one could see my tears! So now, whenever you see a fire truck with flashing lights, you will think of me, pregnant and crying for no good reason!

Telling the Fam

Tonight we called our parents and told them that we are expecting a baby.  This is the first grandchild for my parents, the 4th grandchild for Ryan's dad, and the 10th grandchild for Ryan's mom.  Everyone was very excited!  My dad claims he is too young to be a grandpa but I know he is secretly looking forward to it.  My mom couldn't wait to go out and buy baby gifts.  Within 24 hour her first purchase had been made!  It's wonderful to know that we have such a great support system.  Having our first baby is a little scary, but knowing that we have so many family members to help us out along the way brings us much relief.  And let's face it, without our families, we wouldn't be where we are today!  

We're having a baby!

On Feb. 23rd, Ryan and I found out that we are having a baby!  We were thrilled with the exciting news and can't wait to meet our little one.  Since we found out the big news, there have already been several funny pregnancy related incidents.  For example, one evening I cried uncontrollably after watching a Woolite commercial!  Now there is really no emotional connection one can make to Woolite other than it does a good job at cleaning sweaters.  Needless to say, Ryan consoled me and I eventually began to laugh more than cry.  Since the Woolite commercial, I have cried multiple times over a variety of trivial issues.  Ironically, I don't cry when I would normally.  For example, I couldn't get a single tear to come when I got pulled over for speeding.  I did however learn not to daydream about telling my parents I'm pregnant while driving...a costly lesson!
